Branston Water Park, Burton Upon Trent

We’ve spent the day moored just East of the Branston Water Park. There’s a 10ft mown grass verge & then a well trimmed Hawthorn hedge with a few brambles. There are a few plants along the edge of the canal, but as most of them are small with no flowers I haven’t even attempted to identify them. The pipits of the plant world! Luckily there were 2 small plants with flowers on that I managed to identify, Scarlet Pimpernell & Black Medic.

Greater & Ribwort Plantain were also on the edge of the bank.

There’s been a Kestrel hovering in the vicinity of Muriel much of the time we’ve been here. I’m not sure if he ever went over the boat, but he may well have done!
Although not beside the boat, I also saw 2 Red Admirals today further along the bank & a very poorly bird which I think is a Lesser Whitethroat sitting in the  bottom of a hedge.
